Bret Hart expressed his opinion on Triple H’s legacy, saying that only his “father-in-law” Vince McMahon remembers the former WWE Champion.
In a recent appearance on the 81 Podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer was very critical of Triple H’s success in WWE. Hitman said that Triple H’s career achievements can be chalked up to being a member of the McMahon family.
Hart would go so far as to suggest that Triple H had no original ideas during his wrestling career. Hart said:
“There’s always some people, you know, no matter what they do to them, you always wonder how they got there. And I never thought Triple H had that. An idea for anything, an original idea. And I always thought that was overrated. The only reason people today know him or remember him at all is (the father), the father-in-law.”
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have been together ever since their relationship turned into a true love romance. The couple married in 2003 and have three daughters together.
Triple H of course won multiple world titles in WWE as well as major event wins at several WrestleMania events. Both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon now hold prominent behind-the-scenes positions in WWE. Stephanie is the CEO of the company, while Triple H serves as the Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy and Development as well as the founder of NXT.
Bret Hart on Triple H’s treatment of The Rock in 1997

During the same podcast, Bret Hart also discussed Triple H’s apparent dislike of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson during his early WWE career.
Hart mentioned how Triple H wanted to defeat The Rock for the Intercontinental Championship. However, Hart did not want to defeat The Rock because he saw no benefit to either man in the decision. Hart said:
“I wrestled The Rock and they wanted me to beat him. Triple H did. He wanted me to beat Dwayne to win the Intercontinental title. I refused. ‘Why do I need the Intercontinental title?’ Is?’ … I remember Triple H was sick of it because he loved Dwayne and wanted to destroy him. He hated it.”
Bret Hart was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006.
