Robles, who has lost in the second round in his last two appearances at Wimbledon, defeated Federico Delbonis 4-6 6-4 6-1 6-2 in his debut. The Russian upped the ante in his match against service great Lloyd Harris in the second round, hitting 24 winners and just 18 unforced errors en route to a commanding win in straight sets.

Rublev has reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, Roland Garros and the US Open and will be hoping to add the All England Club to his list during all these fortnights.

Meanwhile, Fabio Fognini had a mediocre season by his standards, going 15-14 in wins and losses at Wimbledon. But that hasn’t deterred the Italian, who has looked in fine form this week.

Fognini cruised past Albert Ramos-Vinolas in straight sets in the opening round before taking down Laszlo Djere for a third-round meeting with Rublev.

Fabio Fognini leads Andre Rublev 5-2 in their head-to-head duel. Although the Italian dominated the opposition, the Russian won his most recent match at the ATP Cup earlier this year.

Predictions by Andre Rublev and Fabio Fognini

Andre Rublev has had quite a successful turf season so far. The Russian finished as runner-up at Helle, losing to Hugo Humbert in the final.

Since then he has seen SW19 politely. Robles hit forehands all week, and was solid on the serve. In the second round against Harris, he won 83% of the points on the first serve. The fifth seed has clearly adapted well to the surface and will be hoping for a big effort at the All England Club.

Against Fognini, Rublev should try to dominate the action with his serve and forehand. The Italian doesn’t have as much power as Rublev, but relies on impeccable timing to target his opponents. Grass, on the other hand, is Fognini’s least favorite surface.

Rublev was definitely in better shape than the Italian and should come through the bout unscathed.

prediction: Andre Rublev to win in straight sets.
