A dozen years ago, while still decorating my drugstore, I bought two Disney-themed Rubik’s Cubes (Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh) to add fun to the kids’ corner. I wished that some kid wouldn’t destroy the cubes so much that I couldn’t retrace their steps, but how? fast It could be children. They messed up the first cube and then messed up the second one. Then I decided how to change the cubes, not the kids. I couldn’t leave them all in such disarray. Between watching youtube tutorials and trying to understand image cubes (more annoying than regular color cubes), my first solution took 2 hours. Thank you, I have less than a minute to spare today. Smart Cube by Rubik’s Connected.
I’m sure die-hard Speedcube players will laugh with derision at my one-minute score. Anything longer than 10 seconds normal. I know, it doesn’t matter. I only know traditional algorithms and I don’t have time to practice for hours every day. You can exercise for 30 minutes or less every two weeks. So I’m proud to have managed to record less than a minute and there’s nothing that can change my mind about it. Cover your ears and sing la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.
I continue to break personal records at high speed and under a minute because I am now competing against other cube players from around the world. This is one of the many features that Rubik’s Connected offers. You might be wondering what an integrated or smart cube means or does, so let me explain all the benefits.
56 seconds 398 milliseconds! Sebastian is a mess 😉
First (and most importantly) this is the softest cube I’ve ever used. Even the Dian Zhanchi Cube, one of the softest cubes I’ve ever thought of, pales in comparison. It’s like lubrication in a flash before it glides like butter. Each rotation is effortless and frictionless, and you don’t need to align everything perfectly before spinning a new block. This is important when trying to get out as quickly as possible. I want to be able to perform multiple actions without stopping. I want a simple flick that rotates the whole block and I want it to snap into place when I start the next move. There’s something incredibly satisfying about it, and it does the cube box just right.
Top: Those satisfying spins and clicks. Under the: You can start a new move before clicking on the cube’s place.
However, unlike the regular Smooth Cube, the yellow side has a Bluetooth connection and charging port in the middle. When paired with the app on your Android or iOS phone, everything you do with the Cube can be monitored in real time from the app. All rotations, all resolutions, all breaks, all contests.
