Sony unveils limited edition WH-1000XM4 headphones in eye-catching white

Sony has found another way to keep it up. WH-1000XM4 headphones’ consistency despite stiff competition: It comes in hard-to-find colors. Slash Gear Sony introduces the Limited Edition Headphones from Silent White.

It’s more than just a color change. Sony says the white headphones come with a pearlescent finish that adds “depth” and improves tactile feel. More importantly, the new color is “more dirt resistant” than the currently available black, blue and silver models. You don’t have to worry about them taking color from your bag or clothes.

The performance of the white Sony headphones is certainly the same as what you get on other WH-1000XM4 models. This is not a bad thing. Powerful active noise cancellation, up to 30 hours of battery life, NFC compatibility, and continuous optimization for voice assistants such as: Alexa and Google Assistant. Despite the demanding touch controls, it delivers excellent sound with a comfortable design and minimal background noise.

As “Limited Edition” suggests, the problem is one of availability. Sony has so far promised to release the WH-1000XM4 silver-white headphones in the UK and Europe, and can be bought from May for £400 or €459. There is no mention of a North American release. If you see a pair and have the resources, you’ll want to snap them up quickly—you might not get another chance.
