Oppo’s Inno Day 2021 is in full swing and the company has announced some exciting products. It unveiled the first processor, an image processing unit that supercharged the camera and enabled real-time RAW processing, and the first augmented reality glasses, the Oppo Air Glass.
Oppo Air Glass
It cannot be denied that Air Glass is the more tactile and beautiful of the two. It looks like someone took Google Glass from 2013 and translated it into a design more appropriate for the decade. Airglass consists of two parts. The frame can be worn alone and corrective glasses can be added if needed. The projector and all other electronic components are housed in a separate hardware package that is magnetically secured to the frame, so you can safely store your sensitive technology when not needed. The module houses a battery, Snapdragon Wear 4100 and a micro-LED projector capable of producing grayscale images, all weighing just 30 grams.
“OPPO has been exploring the possibilities of extended reality (XR) for a long time, and with Air Glass, we have finally developed a smart glass product that is truly a smart glass product,” said Leon Liu, vice president and general manager. within reach of consumers.” OPPO’s. Oppo Lab. “As futuristic design shows, OPPO Air Glass will revolutionize the way we see and consume information. The easy-to-use display puts key messages right in front of our eyes.
AirGlass can be controlled by an Oppophone or smartwatch with an integrated touch panel on the side. It can also react to motion, so you can dismiss notifications by shaking your head. It has a built-in microphone for more complex tasks.
When it comes to functionality, Oppo presents Google Glass as a passive information device, just like when it launched. Displays notifications, weather forecast, calendar appointments, health data and more. It also acts as a translator, similar to Star Trek, allowing you to watch translated transcripts. Teleprompter mode and navigation applications give users the freedom to use their hands when they need it most. Especially since AirGlass doesn’t have a camera, which has been a problem with Google Glass, users fear that people will use the camera to spy on them.
The Oppo Air Glass will only be available in mainland China from Q1 2022, and will be available in black and white and custom frame options.
Opomari Silicone X
Oppo also launched its first custom processor, the MariSilicon X Imaging NPU. It is a 6nm processing unit that combines an advanced NPU, ISP and memory architecture to take the strain off the main CPU when it comes to image processing.
We won’t bore you with the intricacies of how this piece of silicon works, but it has plenty of power to speed up the taxing process. Oppo says it will enable 4K AI night video recording, allowing the camera to reduce noise and apply additional processing to produce cleaner, sharper video.
