Genshin Impact 1.6 leaks: Skiff waypoint, first look at Inazuma islands, and boat travel features revealed

Genshin Impact is prone to leaks, and the 1.6 leak seems to introduce some new spicy images regarding the Anazuma Islands.

Genshin Impact leaks have been notoriously accurate in the past. With photographic evidence, it’s hard to argue that these pieces of material wouldn’t exist. Of course, some can be updated or changed to make it more interesting. That said, these Genshin Impact leaks still provide an interesting insight into what’s coming in Update 1.6.

The first thing some players notice in these images is the presence of Eule and another character. The Animo character is a new five-star unit called Kazuha, which will likely appear in Upgrade 1.6. Fortunately for Eule fans, she will be out in 1.5.

The next thing that fans can notice is the look. The islands look small, almost The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Interestingly, Genshin Impact is known to have many similarities with the recent main title Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild.

In the case of The Wind Waker, the game involved traveling from island to island on a ship. Many of Ganshin’s effects The 1.6 leak suggests that the protagonist will be able to travel from island to island in the same way. It’s not yet known how players will be able to drive boats (or skiffs), but it’s possible that Genshin Impact will introduce a new feature that will make more sense later on.

Skiff Way Point

A new waypoint type will be introduced in line with the new features found in update 1.6. It is not yet known how the skiff waypoint will differ from other waypoints. In comparison, a portable waypoint is basically a portable teleport waypoint, except it only lasts seven days. Likewise, the Teleport Waypoint is a permanent waypoint for that location.

This new Waypoint will allow Genshin Impact players to summon a boat. Since travel through Inazum will rely heavily on boats (given that most players lack the ability to swim long distances), this seems like the most likely scenario.

As shown above, the new icon is almost identical to the Skiff Waypoint design. Players can see the usual teleport obelisk nearby, so it’s unlikely that the skiff waypoint is intended to teleport players to its location. Genshin Impact will not have three teleports anywhere near the same location.

Both of the skiff channels are located in a body of water, so it is very possible that this has to do with the skiff’s ability to spawn.

What is skiff?

Scythians are small boats used for recreation or fishing. Given the open space on the map, the skiff is perfect for navigating to and from specific locations in Inazuma.
