Fitbit Messaging: How Does It Work?
Fitbit’s messaging feature is relatively primitive, but still very useful. Unlike Wear OS, Fitbit users can’t type long responses on their device. The device does not have a dedicated keyboard. Instead, Fitbit uses quick replies, which allow users to quickly respond to messages with pre-written responses or emoticons. Fitbit also supports audio text responses, but some devices support this feature.

Now that you know how your Fitbit handles messaging, it’s important to know what you need to use it for. First, Fitbit’s messaging system relies entirely on notifications. Fitbit can’t initiate messages, but you can respond to messages you receive through notifications. If you don’t enable notifications, you won’t be able to use Fitbit’s messaging features.
How to turn on notifications on Fitbit:
- Open the Fitbit app on your phone.
- Tap your profile image in the top left corner of the screen.
- Choosing a smartwatch or fitness tracker.
- tap Notes.
- On this page, you can select a default app for: Text massage, Calendar EventsAnd E-mail. You can also select individual apps to receive notifications.
Fitbit displays notifications for all apps that support notifications on Android, but only some apps support Quick Response. An app that helps you respond to notifications on your phone. So any app that provides the ability to reply from the phone’s notification bar should work with quick replies. Here WhatsApp, Google Messages, Facebook Messenger, Slack and other chat apps.
