Valorant patch update 2.06 brought a number of changes that attempt to make some of the less attractive agents in the game more durable.
Viper Eye Euro had some of the worst selection rates in both professional play and standard matchmaking. With patch 2.06, the developers of Valorant will try to help current agents reach their goal.
However, agent updates are not the only changes that the new update brings to the server. 2.06 also brings with it an HRTF related head transfer function or Targeted Audio update.
The patch notes reveal that the following changes will be made to Valorant.
- Added a sound switch in the audio settings panel to enable HRTF.
- HRTF allows players who wear headphones to reproduce sound in a simulated environment.
- Audio space.
- Currently, only HRTF-enabled deathmatch actions, reloads, and recoveries will be staged with 3D.
- It is recommended that players turn off any other “3D audio” processing when using this feature.
RTF is a quality-of-life upgrade that has been loved by many of the enthusiasts and professional players we asked. Fortunately, Riot’s developers listened, and the much-anticipated audio upgrade is here with patch 2.06.
What is the HRTF Targeted Audio update in Valorant?
HRTF’s targeted audio update is widely used in other competitive esports titles such as PUBG and CS:GO.
So it’s a field-proven formula that lets headphone users transform the HRTF input and enjoy a more dynamic version of directional sound.
Sound vibrations are longitudinal waves that travel in all directions in space and propagate as they move and bounce off objects.
HRTF now uses the exact same principle to deliver artificial surround sound to headphones and create 3D audio spaces that significantly affect the way players perceive and interpret sound.
HRTF is particularly useful for people with hearing problems, such as single-sided deafness or hearing loss. So, enabling the function will allow the user to master 3D sounds. When it comes to Valorant, it will help them to understand the exact angle from which the sound is produced.
The HRTF sequence studies the average size of the head and approximates the direction from which the sound should reach the ear.
Although the introduction of the setting in CS:GO was met with much controversy as the update did not work…
