CPAC Announces Big Bird, Elmo Are ‘Not Invited’ Invited to 2022 Conference

The Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) continues to attack PBS’ “Sesame Street” after the Big Bird character’s Twitter account promoted a COVID-19 vaccine.

CPAC shared a photo of Sesame Street character Big Bird with Bert and Ernie in a tweet Wednesday night. It read, “Big bird and big government mandates?”

“No thanks,” he added, clapping his hands between each word.

In another tweet, she shared a photo of Elmo with the caption, “Not invited.”

On November 6, Big Bird tweeted, “I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My arm is a little sore, but it will give my body an extra immune boost that keeps me and others healthy.

Sen said. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) reacted by tweeting, “Government propaganda … for your 5-year-old!”

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) called the tweet “propaganda” and told Fox News, “Americans are waking up to what bureaucrats are doing every day. They are destroying our freedoms and the P.B. S is being used as the long arm of the government.

As Chad Pergram of Fox News stars, conservatives have talked about government money going to PBS and have since at least 2012.

And since the 1990s, Republican lawmakers have tried to limit funding to public broadcasting. In 1995, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R) claimed, “They’re just a left-wing enclave using your money to indoctrinate your children against your values.”
