Chelsea injury update on five stars including Kai Havertz and Mason Mount

  • by

Football London has announced five Chelsea players have been injured. The list of players includes Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Mateo Kovaci. Of these, Mount and Huertz are the only ones who have time to return to action.

Last week, German coach Hansi Flick revealed that Havertz had suffered a thigh injury during the international break. However, Flick then said that the striker could play in Germany’s match against Armenia. Havertz not only played the match but also scored a goal. The teamWin 4-1.

The 22-year-old was mostly used by Chelsea as a false 9 in Lukaku’s absence and will be a big miss. However, Huertz looks set to play in the Blues’ Premier League game against Leicester City this weekend. So far this season he has four goals and two assists in 16 games for Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Mason Mount had to undergo dental surgery earlier this month after his tooth became infected. England players did not recover in time from Gareth Southgate’s induction into the national team.

However, Mount are expected to play against Leicester City this weekend. The 22-year-old has made 13 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

There is no time frame as Chelsea are sweating over the status of Lukaku, Kovacic and Werner.

Unlike Mason Mount and Kai Havertz, Chelsea have yet to ascertain the availability of Romelu Lukaku, Tim Werner and Matt Kovacek.

Both Lukaku and Werner limped off injured during the Blues’ 4–0 win over Malmö in the UEFA Champions League on 21 October. The Belgian suffered an ankle injury after winning a penalty for his side and was replaced by Havertz in the 23rd minute. Werner, meanwhile, went down with a tendon injury after about 20 minutes and was replaced by Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Neither player has appeared for Chelsea since and there is currently no time frame for his return. However, Lukaku is back in training and could win the match soon. He has scored four goals in 11 appearances for the Blues this season, while Werner has two goals in 10 appearances.

Mateo Kovačić completes Chelsea’s injury list. Croat suffered a setback in training ahead of the Blues’ match against Newcastle United on 30 October. Kovačić has not played for Thomas Tuchel’s side since then and his availability remains unknown.

The 27-year-old has been excellent for Chelsea this season, with one goal and five assists in 13 games before the injury.
