In Genshin Impact, Ajax, now known as Tartaglia or Childe, is the Fatui Harbinger with excellent fighting skills.
Childe wasn’t always the warrior he is today. Leo’s story provided a much more detailed account of his background.
Thanks to Genshin Impact’s story pages, players can learn about Child’s life before becoming a Harbinger.
The story of Ajax in Jensen Impact

As a child, 11. Fatui Harbinger did not have the names “Childe” and “Tartaglia” as they do today. Ajax was named after a heroic story by his father.
Ajax and his father often went ice fishing together, cutting through the ice to find fishing spots, and tending their lines. In these moments of bonding with the family, Ajax’s father often told stories of his past adventures. Ajax would take these stories to heart and imagine himself living the same way.

At the age of 14, Ajax left home with a short sword and a bag of bread. He wasn’t very good at fighting back then, but that was about to change.
Ajax gets lost in the snowy forest and is chased by dangerous animals. As he ran, he slipped and fell into a crack in the ground. There Ajax found himself in a dark realm separated from the ordinary world.
A strange sword-wielding woman in this kingdom was Ajax’s guardian for three months and made him a warrior. Only three days had passed in the real world but he would return home fearing confrontation and struggle.

Wherever Ajax went, violence ensued. Eventually, his father handed him over to Fatima, hoping that his military life would temper his anger. However, it didn’t turn out as planned.
Ajax’s ability to dispose of enemy troops caught the attention of the 5th herald, Pulsenil, while still a teenager. Harbinger made Ajax an official member of Fatui, though he had to work from the bottom.

Ajax defeats powerful foes in the Empress’s service, and eventually becomes the youngest Harbinger in Fatui’s history. With his new title, he earned the nickname “Child” Tartaglia.
At some point in Ajax’s service with Fatui, the Cryo Archon Tsaritsa gave him her misunderstanding. Jester, the first fatoi in history, had an ancient badge on him when he swore fealty to the archon.

Although one of the most powerful heralds, Tartaglia doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with his peers. Fatoui loves to deceive, while Childe prides himself on keeping his word. Also, as Chaos continues to follow the 11th Herald, Fatoi often sends him away from Sanzania to avoid random consequences.
There are good reasons to suspect that Tartaglia will reappear later in the Genshin Impact story. The traveler will probably see it again soon…
