One of the reasons many people love Google’s camera experience is the ability to take amazing photos by simply pointing and shooting. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro now come with upgraded camera hardware, making them a great choice if you want to edit your photos. Adobe knows this, and Lightroom is now on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, as well as Samsung’s new flagships, the Galaxy Zfold 3 and Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Nine to five Google Found a change on the help page for Adobe’s Camera Raw extension to handle RAW images for a number of services, including Lightroom. As part of the December update to Extensions, all of the Pixel 6 series’ lenses, including a secondary rear camera, were added to the list, along with the telephoto lens pair on the Galaxy S21 Ultra and three rear sensors on the Galaxy Z Fold3. With the latest version of the plugin, RAW images from these phones are officially supported. Although it is possible to edit RAW images informally, we recommend that you seek approved support.
Other devices supported in this update include ultra-wide-angle lenses and a handful of original cameras on the iPhone 12 and 12 mini, while the previous update included older Pixel flagships and the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series. According to the table, the only device that gets a lens correction profile is the Sony A7 IV camera, but most phones don’t have a lens correction profile.
To properly use Lightroom with photos on the Pixel 6, you need both the Camera Raw extension (14.1) and the latest version of Lightroom 5.1 or Lightroom Classic 11.1. You can see the full list of supported devices here. Here
