A bullet hell game is a unique sub-genre of game. The genre has returned to the mainstream a bit with the release of NieR: Automata and its impressively entertaining bullet hell sequence. It has fun shooting and flipping on the player. There are still shooting mechanics. But the point is to dodge the bullets flying at you and shoot the villains. So, it is a bit different from normal shooting games.

Other names for the bullet hell genre include shoot ’em up (or Shump), manic shooter, danmaku (literally bullet curtain) and STG (Japanese acronym for shooting games). This is from Touhou, the classic bullet hell game from the late 1990s, and is not the last name to be used in this article. Regardless, it’s a great, basic shooter and completely free with no in-app purchases.

AirAttack 2 is a World War II-era aerial shooter. The game features 22 campaign missions, survival missions, stunning 3D graphics, and 5 planes. Other gaming features include external gamepad support along with Android TV support and can be played offline. The gameplay is good for the genre. Also, the controls are easy to learn. It can mess up mid-range and low-end instruments, but otherwise it’s great.

The series consists of three games, including the original Bullet Hell Monday, Bullet Hell Monday Black, and Bullet Hell Monday Finale. Each game has retro style graphics with tons of bullet hell action with incredibly colorful and bright graphics. Each game has different chapters to play, different upgrades to unlock and simple controls. Developers play too. Decluster Zero, another great shooting game. All 4 games from this developer are great.


Guardian Girls

Guardian Girls shoots well with colorful graphics and anime-inspired characters. The game isn’t for everyone, but at least it includes a story mode that coexists with a common set of things like boss battles, colorful battles, and simple controls. Every 10 levels, there is a boss battle. The gameplay is relatively smooth. Also, the game has a powerful soundtrack and is beginner friendly. It’s not the most popular, but that’s okay.
