AHOSKIE, NC – Police are investigating a mass shooting that happened Saturday morning.
Around 1 a.m., Ahoskie police said they were dispatched to the Ahoskie Inn for a tip at Alicia Bar & Grill. When they reached the place, they saw a huge crowd of more than 100 people in the parking lot.
Officers found a man with life-threatening injuries. Police say the victim is 22-year-old Jaren Lyles of Oleander, NC.
After they controlled the crowd and confirmed the scene, officers determined six people were involved in the damage inside and outside Alicia Bar and Grill, police said. Some people said that the injured victim left the scene while being taken to the hospital.
Of the six injured who went to hospital, five were injured and one had a leg injury to keep him from running away from the club where the arrows were launched.
Authorities are still investigating and investigating the incident, police told News 3. He added that at that time everything was satisfactory and safe.
During the scene of the attempted murder, a fight broke out between the men in the parking lot, while law enforcement officers tried to contain the scene, police said.
“This is a very sad night for our community,” said Capt. There were over a hundred people in and out of Alicia Grill & Bar last night. We ask that they be present and the officers. Contact the Ahoskie Police Department to identify those who intended to fire shots inside the club, as well as More than 10,000 people were inside, and continued to fire these weapons in the parking lot. I urge our community to come together and help law enforcement arrest the people who commit such heinous crimes.
A resident who rushed to the scene after hearing the incident said the community is small enough that there is something for everyone.
He also stated that he had seen the dead body of the deceased and that he knew her. “It was hard, it was bad, especially when you know all your family members,” he said.
There is no further information at this time as police investigate.
